Mohammad Farhad Azimi
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to the Republic of Kazakhstan
Mohammad Farhad Azimi has been appointed as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to the Republic of Kazakhstan pursuant to a presidential order on date 24th October 2018
Mr. Azimi is a leading politician and has worked in numerous positions including as a parliamentarian, advisor to the presidential and parliamentary candidates and university professor. During his political life, he has worked closely with international diplomats and forces including the Resolute Support Mission and the former International Security assistance Force (ISAF). He as well has represented Afghanistan government in numerous international conferences taken place in the US, Europe, Australia and Asia.
Prior to his appointment as the ambassador in Afghanistan Embassy in Kazakhstan, Mr. Azimi was serving as Balkh representative in Wolesi Jirga or House of Representatives from 2010 to 2018. During his term of service in Wolesi Jirga, he has served as the Second Secretary of the House for two years, a member of the Legislation Committee and the head of Legislative Committee.
Before serving in Parliament, Mr. Azimi has worked as an Assistant Professor in Balkh University Law School from 2005 to 2010. At the same time, he was elected as a member of Balkh Provincial Council where he acted as the Chairman of the Council for four years until leaving the Council and being elected as the Wolesi Jirga member.
Mr. Azimi, before returning to Afghanistan in 2005, was living in Netherlands and has followed short term courses in Management, Administration and integration, and has worked as a junior computer programmer and instructor.
Mr. Azimi was born in Mazar-e-Sharif, the capital city of Balkh Province, and has completed his primary, secondary and high school in Mazar and was graduated from Bakhtar High School. He later completed his Bachelor studies at the Law and Political Science School of Balkh University and accordingly completed his L.L.M in International Commercial Law from the Tajik University of Commerce in Tajikistan.
Mr. Azimi as well possesses advanced education in software engineering. He is fluent in Dari/Persian and as well speaks in English, Russian, Uzbeki and Urdu. He is married and is a father of 5 children.
