Mr. Mohammad Farhad Azimi Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to the Republic of Kazakhstan meet with Ms. Yasuko ODA, the Regional Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (“UNHCR”) for Central Asia.
Firstly the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan welcomed her to the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and thanked her for the co-operations and supports of the UNHCR office for Afghan refugees all around the world.
Afterwards, Ms. Yasuko ODA appreciated the Ambassador for hosting her in the Embassy and stated about the issue of immigration in the Republic of Kazakhstan that “the UNHCR has limited their supporting programs for the refugees living in Kazakhstan whom most of them are from Afghanistan. That’s because the request for refugee-hood is being processed by the government of Kazakhstan themselves and that the UNHCR is not involved in this issue. On the other hand, the government of Afghanistan must not only implement the awareness programs over those who are willing to immigrate but also should take into account a program in order to make the people of Afghanistan believe not to be defrauded by the wordings of the human traffickers. For now there is no program from Kazakhstan for the migration purposes to the Canada and United States of America.”
At the last, Mr. Ambassador accepted the invitation of Ms. Yasuko in order to attend at the conferences being held by the UNHCR office, stating that “Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan is willing to take part in the conferences being held by the UNHCR within the Republic of Kazakhstan and discuss the policy of the government of Afghanistan with regard to the internally displaced persons and the Afghan Refugees. Additionally on the issues which the UNHCR deems necessary for the co-operations of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, then the Embassy ‘s door will be always open for them.” Moreover, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to the Republic of Kazakhstan as well promised to share the concerns of the UNHCR office with the central government and related offices inside Afghanistan
