H.E. Mr. Mohammad Farhad Azimi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to the Republic of Kazakhstan met with H.E. Mr. Sven-Olov Carlsson Ambassador/Head of Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Kazakhstan at their respected Embassy.
Mr. Mohammad Hasham Sa’ad, the Counsel of the Embassy as well accompanied H.E. Azimi to the Meeting.
In the first place, Mr. Carlsson welcomed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to their respected embassy.
Subsequently, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan expressed gratitude for their welcome, calling the European Union as one of Afghanistan’s strongest and closest allies in various sectors. Referring to the role of the European Union in the governance process and improving security in Afghanistan, he stated that the European Union has always called for progress and development in Afghanistan and has worked in the field of Afghanistan.
H.E. Mr. Azimi then stated that the EU has played an effective role in improving good governance and democracy in Afghanistan, and that at the 2018 Geneva Conference on Afghanistan, the EU announced a financial package worth €474 million to support state-building and public sector reforms, health, justice, and elections, as well as to address migration and displacement challenges in Afghanistan, whom we are grateful for this cooperation.
The ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, speaking about the EU’s cooperation with the Afghan government in providing education for Afghan women and supporting them in different sectors, called for maintaining this cooperation in the Republic of Kazakhstan. H.E. Mr. Azimi stated that if the European Union is willing to grant scholarships for Afghan female students, then the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan will cooperate with them in this regard.
Subsequently, the European Union Ambassador expressing his gratitude to Mr. Azimi, stated that Afghanistan has always been the top agenda of discussion between the European Union and its neighboring countries. In addition, the EU has been cooperating fully with Afghanistan over the years to ensure peace and stability in Afghanistan, and is committed to staying with Afghanistan for many years to achieve global peace and security.
He welcomed the proposal of the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to provide education for women in Afghanistan at the universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan, stating that he would share this issue with his colleagues and cooperate with the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in the field of its implementation.
H.E. Mr. Carlsson discussing about developments in Afghanistan by stated that “Although I have never been in Afghanistan, but with the reports that our colleagues are publishing and the discussions I hear from them about Afghanistan, I am sure that the country has made significant progress over the past few years.” He also expressed his ideas with regard to the peace process in Afghanistan, stating that the European Union wants peace in Afghanistan as soon as possible, and we will do our best so that the country achieve a global and meanwhile the stable peace.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, expressing their appreciation and gratitude to the European Union Ambassador for their good faith, emphasized that the two embassies in the Republic of Kazakhstan can cooperate closely with each other, in different parts of the country to further implement the EU’s programs in Afghanistan and consolidate Relationships with each other by working closely together.
Thus, The Ambassador of Afghanistan, presented a gift to H.E. Carlsson as a sign of maintaining the relations between the two Embassies. Both sides emphasized on strengthening the relations with each other in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
