Charge D’affaires a.i., Aziz Omar had an exclusive interview with Adviser of IOFS (Islamic organization for food Security) about food security, Kazakhstan role in the organization. Upcoming Summit on food system in 2021, also discussed about the importance of food security in Afghanistan, SDGs 2   agenda in 2030 and the world crisis after pandemic covid19.

The Mission and  KEY OBJECTIVES of IOFS:

-To provide expertise and technical know-how to member states on various aspects of sustainable agriculture, rural development, food security, and biotechnology;

To assess and monitor the state of food security in member states to be able to identify emergencies, provide social safety nets and humanitarian assistance through food security reserves;

To coordinate, formulate and implement common agricultural policies, such as exchange and transfer of appropriate technology and public food management systems;

To address problems posed by desertification, deforestation, erosion, and salinity;

To mobilize and manage financial and agricultural resources to enhance food security.

THE STRATEGIC MISSION OF IOFS IS TO ENSURE SUSTAINABLE FOOD SECURITY IN MEMBER STATES.

Today Kazakhstan may announce itself as one of the important participants at the world food market. The agricultural sector of Kazakhstan  has huge potential and large reserves. The area of Kazakhstan owns the ninth ranking in the world and it composes more than 2.7 mln. square kilometers. The total area of the agricultural land exceeds 90 mln. hectares including 25 million. Hectares of arable land and 61 million hectares of pasture. Kazakhstan is a big regional producer and exporter of the food. In 2013 Kazakhstan has exported food for total amount of 2 751.4 mln. USD
